Reflections After My First Bottle: The Rabbit Hole of Single Malt
The last drop of Macallan 12 has left the bottle, but it left behind something much more permanent: a burning curiosity.
Before this, whisky was just "strong alcohol." Now, it has become a puzzle I want to solve.
The Information Overload: Sherry, Peat, and Bourbon
I started diving into the world of whisky YouTube. Suddenly, my feed was filled with experts talking about Sherry Casks, Peat smoke, Bourbon aging, and Irish vs. Scotch.
To be honest? It was overwhelming. I heard the words, I saw the bottles, but nothing really stuck in my brain yet. It felt like trying to learn a new language by only listening to the radio. I knew the terms existed, but I didn't yet know how they tasted.
The "Lone Wolf" Problem
As I got more interested, I tried to talk about it with people around me. The reaction was almost always the same: "How can you drink that? It's too harsh!" or "It just tastes like medicine."

A New Revelation in Korea: The Highball
While I was lost in my thoughts of what to buy next, I took a trip to Korea. There, I met a friend and was introduced to a completely different side of the whisky world: The Highball.
I thought whisky always had to be drunk neat or on the rocks. But this refreshing, fizzy, and incredibly accessible drink opened a new door. It wasn't just a drink; it was a "new world."
