A Random Turn into the Fairway: My Accidental Introduction to Golf
Every golfer has a "day zero"—the moment they first held a club. For many, it’s a calculated decision. For me, it was a complete accident born out of a quiet afternoon on a business trip.

The Tech Specialist and the Salesman
Fresh out of university, I began my professional life in a technical role. In my first team, I was paired with a sales representative—a deputy manager. As a duo, we traveled together constantly, blending technical expertise with sales strategy on the road.
One afternoon, while traveling for work, we found ourselves with a rare gap in our schedule. We were between meetings, with plenty of time to kill and nowhere specific to be.
An Unexpected Question
As we were pondering how to spend the hour, a small, humble driving range caught our eye by the side of the road. My colleague turned to me and asked a simple, life-changing question:
"Have you ever played golf?"
Having just entered the workforce after years of studying, my answer was an obvious "No." I had never even stood near a golf course, let alone swung a club.
The First Iron Swing
Without hesitation, we pulled over. That was the day I held an iron for the very first time. I didn't have gloves, I didn't know the grip, and I certainly didn't have a swing. I just followed his lead and tried to hit the ball.
Looking back, can I truly call that my "entry" into golf? It wasn't a formal lesson or a grand debut at a country club. It was just a tech guy and a salesman at a roadside range. Yet, that single swing planted a seed of curiosity that would eventually grow into a lifelong hobby.
Sometimes, the best journeys begin when you aren't even looking for the path.
